A Wedding… IN HAWAII?!?!?! Josh and Rebecca June 1st, 2011
The Team:
Venue & Catering: Sheraton Maui Resort
Photographer: Peter Thompson
Master of Ceremonies & DJ: Robert Krueger
This is their story:
It all started St. Patrick’s day 2008 at Joshua’s house during a party. She was impressed by his dance moves doing the robot… he thought she was the cutest thing he’d ever seen and had to make her his.
On April 5th, 1985 Rebecca Jane Wyatt was born in Valparaiso, Indiana. She grew up in Portage, Indiana with her sisters Rachel and Holly. She played softball and volleyball and graduated from Portage High School in 2003. After high school, she attended Butler University in Indianapolis and 6 LONG years later, she graduated from Pharmacy school.
Joshua Edward Brodlieb, born February 10th, 1983 in Plantation, Florida, grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Bailey, Colorado with his younger brother Jason. He graduated from Platte Canyon High School in 2000 and continued to college at the University of Northern Colorado. He majored in Psychology, was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda, and graduated in 2005.
After college, Becca moved to Phoenix to work for Walgreens and Josh… Well Josh spent his time looking for the perfect job. He came up short and returned to school.
Josh and Becca had a bit of an unusual and extreme first date. Josh, having only recently met Becca at his house party, flew to Indiana, and met Becca for lunch. They continued their date at the Children’s museum, enjoyed a minor league baseball game, and somehow found the time to drive to Kentucky so Josh could meet Becca’s parents.
Did I mention, Josh and Rebecca had their first kiss while he was in Indiana? May 27th, 2008. It happened at the airport… Oh no, it wasn’t a goodbye kiss, it was a “hello” kiss. When Becca met Josh at the airport he wasn’t sure what to say… So he leaned in and kissed her.
Unfortunately, it would be over a year before they would be together again. Love sick for his Rebecca, Josh moved to Phoenix and they spent the next year together. They moved to Colorado and during a hike in Evergreen, at the top of 3 Sisters, Josh asked Becca to take a photo. She turned to retrieve her camera and when she turned back, Josh was on one knee.
Everyone said they were crazy, but Becca KNEW she would regret not giving Josh a chance.
Against all odds they stand before you today as
Mr. and Mrs. Josh and Rebecca Brodlieb!
Enjoy the photos!

Just a DJ?
After MCing and DJing a wedding this weekend something rather profound occurred to me. Most of my clients don’t consider me, “Just a DJ”. In fact, most of my clients understand the importance of having a Master of Ceremonies at their event to help their guests enjoy the evening, but at Ron and Nicolette’s wedding there was something else that was really important to them, or someONE else rather…
Meet “Grandpa”: (I’m obviously not a photographer…)

This is "Grandpa"
Grandpa is 83 years.
He spent most of the day in a wheelchair and using oxygen, keep in mind the Stanley Hotel is in the mountains of Colorado!
How important is “Grandpa” to the family? VERY important!
Let me explain. I don’t know where Grandpa is from. I don’t know what Grandpa accomplished in his life. I don’t know who Grandpa married, what job he had, or what social status he is. All I know is Grandpa is sitting in front of me across the dance floor and several family members have asked me to play something for him.
To me, the answer was simple. Glenn Miller’s, “In The Mood”.
Grandpa took his oxygen hose off, got out of his wheel chair and danced his heart out for only one verse!

Grandpa Tearing Up the dance floor!

Grandpa Dancing!
You should have seen Grandpa tearing up the dance floor and the smile on his face. For that one short period in time, that one short verse of music, Grandpa was a kid again. He was smiling and having fun like he used to.
Out of breath, he returned to his seat and immediately put his oxygen back on.
Why am I telling you all this?
Life.
I have heard the argument that Mobile DJs aren’t as important as plumbers or electricians. I have heard other DJs say that we can’t change, influence, or save peoples lives like a Doctor or a Firefighter.
I strongly disagree!
What if one of the guests was considering divorce?
What if one of the guests was considering suicide and was “dragged” to the reception?
What if family members have been fighting?
Our performance CAN change someone’s life. We have the power to influence people’s emotions and therefore their behavior, with our vocal performance and music choices.
Think about Grandpa. How long has it been since Grandpa had an opportunity to dance? When was the last time he “got out of the house”? How much time does Grandpa have left before he won’t be able to attend family celebrations?
For that one verse, Grandpa was having the time of his life!
Still don’t believe me…
I have proof.
After playing “In The Mood”, one of the bride’s maids looked me straight in the eye, kissed me on the cheek and then said thank you.
Do I need to say more?
Zack and Natalia August 28th, 2010
Their story: Zack and Natalia had the ultimate “New York Minute”. They met each other in passing and fell into each other eyes, the rest is history.

Natalia’s family is from Latin America and Zack’s friends are from all over the world. Several state and 5 countries were represented at their reception. Needless to say, music selection was difficult at best. I was extremely humbled with the outburst of applause when I welcomed the guests in both English and Spanish. What a wonderful group of people.
Zack and Natalia had a little bit of fun with their wedding party:
